A New Era for Missouri State Football
Missouri State University is reshaping Plaster Stadium into a year‑round gathering place that goes beyond the final whistle, offering families, alumni and fans a full day of activities before, during and after each game.
The recent renovation includes state‑of‑the‑art LED lighting that meets the broadcast standards of ESPN and CBS, allowing the university to host national telecasts and bring greater visibility to the program.
Outside the stadium a dedicated broadcast compound now houses the production equipment needed for high‑profile games, while interior work has refreshed the press box, repainted key areas and upgraded suite‑level entryways.
Construction at the adjacent McDonald Arena is adding modern locker rooms, training spaces, a weight room and equipment rooms, and a tunnel that will link the two facilities, with the connection scheduled to open in 2027.
Premium seating options are being expanded, with renovated suites and new club seats aimed at providing a more comfortable experience for those seeking a higher‑end view of the action.
Tailgating culture has flourished, with fans gathering on both sides of Grand Street and the BearFest Village offering music, food, games and a dedicated “Bear” garden that turns the parking lots into a pre‑game festival.
Despite the upgrades, ticket prices remain family‑friendly, reinforcing the university’s goal of making the stadium experience accessible to a broad audience.
The 2026 home schedule features four Saturday contests and two midweek games against opponents such as Texas A&M, Lindenwood, Marshall, SMU, WKU, Delaware, Sam Houston State, FIU, New Mexico State, Jacksonville State and Liberty, several of which will be broadcast nationally.
Patrick Ransdell, the athletic director at Missouri State, says the overhaul is about more than wins on the field; it is about creating an environment where fans feel welcomed, engaged and eager to return.
