A Promising Start
Freshman defender Peyton Marmion got the scoring rolling in the 27th minute, latching onto a cross from Colin Pearce and firing a one‑timer that broke the deadlock.
Junior forward Quinn Mahoney added his first goal of the season shortly thereafter, finishing a move set up by Charlie Hogan that put the Mustangs up 2‑0. The play also involved senior Parker Mascott, whose pass sliced open the Spartans' backline.
Goalkeeper Mathew Guerra anchored the backline, making three saves and denying a penalty kick from Angel Fernandez to preserve a clean sheet.
The match featured a flurry of chances, with Cal Poly outshot 13‑9 and an own goal in the 54th minute sealing the final 3‑0 result. Seven players contributed with one assist each, including Ronin Axelson.
