Minnesota Wild Launches 2026 Little Wild Learn To Play Program for Kids

Registration opens May 27 for first‑time players aged 5‑8, with equipment, sessions and a charitable component

The Minnesota Wild, together with its partners, has opened registration for the 2026 Little Wild Learn To Play Program, a initiative aimed at introducing hockey to children experiencing the sport for the first time.

Program details and eligibility

The program is reserved for youngsters who are five to eight years old as of December 1, 2026, and will run across Minnesota with 22 scheduled sessions, one of which is dedicated to girls at the TRIA Rink in St. Paul.

Each participant receives a full set of hockey equipment and four one‑hour on‑ice sessions, all bundled for a fee of $212. From every registration, $12 is earmarked for the Minnesota Wild Foundation’s Skate It Forward initiative, supporting youth hockey access.

Logistics and incentives

Equipment fitting events will be held at Pure Hockey locations in Woodbury and Burnsville, where families can collect their gear and get fitted by professional staff.

All registrants are also invited to attend a preseason Minnesota Wild game at Grand Casino Arena, where they will receive a complimentary ticket.

Matt Boldy, a forward with the Wild, serves as the Little Wild Ambassador, lending his voice to the campaign and sharing his own journey from youth hockey to the NHL.

The initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to community outreach, combining sport development with charitable giving, and offering a tangible pathway for families to engage with the game.
