Arkansas junior pitcher Kuhio Aloy is slated to undergo surgery to repair a fractured hamate bone, a injury that could keep him out of action for several weeks.
The fracture was sustained during a May 20 matchup with Tennessee, when Aloy felt a sudden sharp pain in his left hand while at the plate in the opening inning.
Before the injury, Aloy had been a steady presence in the Razorbacks’ lineup, posting a .294 batting average, nine home runs and 41 RBIs, while his recent pitching outings displayed a marked improvement in speed and command.
Coach Dave Van Horn, a veteran of collegiate baseball, suggested that the injury may have been brewing from an earlier swing, emphasizing that such setbacks are often difficult to predict.
A Glimmer of Hope
The rehabilitation timeline places Aloy’s potential comeback within reach if the Razorbacks advance deep into the tournament, offering the program a chance to rally around his eventual return later in the season.
