The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have announced the addition of forward Chaz Smedsrud ahead of the 2026‑27 ECHL campaign, securing a third‑year player who brings a blend of experience and offensive versatility.
Smedsrud spent the last two seasons with the Rapid City Rush, where he recorded 28 points across 72 games, including seven goals and 21 assists, establishing himself as a reliable contributor on the second line.
His return to the organization coincides with a familiar face behind the bench; Head Coach Chad Costello, who previously mentored Smedsrud during his stint with the Allen Americans and later served as associate coach with the Rush, will now guide the forward in Greenville.
Born in Luverne, Minnesota, Smedsrud honed his game over four collegiate seasons at Union College, amassing 62 points in 141 appearances and laying a foundation that has translated into professional success.
