Suzanne Mears is back on the sidelines of the Burr and Burton girls’ soccer program, returning after a two‑year hiatus, and this time she steps into a role at a level she has never previously coached.
In her earlier stint the Bulldogs captured the Lady Patriot Classic, finished the season undefeated and secured first place in the SVL‑A division, achievements that set a high benchmark for the program.
When she departed, the team’s fortunes waned; they missed the playoffs, posted a win‑percentage under .500 and have not hosted a postseason game since.
The current roster reflects a deliberate blend of senior leadership and a influx of freshmen, giving the squad depth that spans from ninth to twelfth grade and a balance that could prove decisive.
A fresh start
The Bulldogs will open their 2026 season on Saturday at Mount Anthony Union High School, with kickoff set for 11 a.m., marking the first test of Mears’ renewed vision.
