From Ivy League to the Titans
Jabari Trotter, a California native with deep roots in basketball, has accepted an assistant coaching position at Cal State Fullerton, bringing a blend of Ivy League acumen and West Coast experience to the program.
Trotter’s journey began in Northridge, where he honed his skills on the court before moving on to Dartmouth College, graduating in 2012 with a sociology degree. His playing career, marked by 112 appearances and 102 three‑pointers, gave him a player’s perspective that would later inform his coaching philosophy.
After completing a master’s in business management practice at Dublin Business School, Trotter launched his coaching career at Lehigh University, guiding the Mountain Hawks to a 13‑5 season and a championship‑game appearance in 2015‑16. He then spent four years at Hawaii, where the Rainbow Warriors posted a 46‑26 record, before returning to Dartmouth as an assistant and recruiting coordinator.
During his tenure at Dartmouth, Trotter was instrumental in orchestrating the program’s first winning season since 1999, finishing with a .519 win percentage in 2025. The effort earned the coaching staff the Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year honor for the 2024‑25 campaign, and several of his protégés earned All‑Ivy League recognition.
Known for his emphasis on player development, defensive schemes, and strategic recruiting, Trotter cultivated talent that translated into professional opportunities abroad, including a stint with Dublin Thunder BC and youth coaching roles in Ireland. His analytical approach and ability to connect with athletes have made him a sought‑after mentor across multiple programs.
Now at Cal State Fullerton, Trotter joins a vibrant athletic department that includes the university’s official website, csuf.edu, and aims to leverage his West Coast recruiting network and defensive expertise to elevate the Titans’ competitive edge in the Big West Conference.
