A Season of Expectations
The Federal Way Eagles are poised for a breakout year under the steady guidance of head coach Marcus Yzaguirre, who enters his seventh season with a 6‑4 record and a clear vision for success. His staff includes offensive coordinator Melvin Wells, who runs a Spread attack, and defensive mastermind Thomas Bogan, who employs a 4‑2‑5 scheme.
At the heart of the defense are several standout backs, including senior safety Tayven Collins, junior linebacker Kaicen Carter and freshman cornerback Dash Jones. Their secondary also features former collegiate standouts such as Andre Jordan Jr., Jaylon Jenkins and Jay Sinclair, giving the Eagles a deep and experienced secondary.
On offense, the team will lean on senior wide receiver Justin Suega, who has drawn interest from Washington, Arizona and Utah, as well as emerging talents like sophomore Isaiah Healy and freshman quarterback Cordae Norling, who is hoping to earn a Week 1 start under WIAA transfer rules.
The schedule opens on September 4 with a showdown against Kent‑Meridian, followed by contests against Kentlake, Auburn Mountainview, Enumclaw, Thomas Jefferson, Decatur, White River and Sunnyside. Coach Yzaguirre says the early slate is designed to test the team and build momentum toward a state championship.
