The Boston University men's soccer squad opened its season on the road, heading into a tightly contested match at Northeastern's home ground.
Northeastern struck first in the 31st minute when Will Schmidt found the net, giving the hosts an early edge.
Just as the half was winding down, sophomore Anthony Harper delivered a pinpoint cross that set up senior Lapo Romieri to equalize, the goal arriving with only eight and a half seconds left on the clock.
A Turning Point
In the second half Northeastern intensified its pressure, and in the 77th minute Tate Duax, assisted by Schmidt, restored the lead, a moment that shifted momentum decisively.
Boston University's senior goalkeeper Ben Alexander rose to the occasion, making six saves – a new single‑game high for him – while the Terriers managed only three corner kicks and were outshot 16‑12 overall.
The Terriers will close out their opening road trip on Monday, August 3 at 7 p.m. when they travel to Providence, hoping to regroup before the next challenge.
