Bethany Showdown Ends in a Draw
The Vikings traveled to Bethany, Oklahoma, where they met Southern Nazarene in a tightly contested basketball match that concluded with a 1‑1 draw on Friday evening.
Early in the second half, Ava Kowalchyk opened the scoring for the Vikings, slipping a shot past the defense after an assist from Paige Bracker that set the tone for a lively contest.
Southern Nazarene answered back with a flurry of activity, as Makenzie Nelson and Ella Weide each tested the Vikings' goal with multiple attempts, while Madaline Bullard’s timely block on a Weide effort in the 16th minute highlighted the hosts’ defensive resolve.
The momentum shifted again when Danika Womack struck for Southern Nazarene in the 76th minute, leveling the score and capping a match that saw the Vikings out‑shoot their opponents 13 to 2 but struggle to convert many of those chances.
Both teams finished with five shots on target, underscoring a battle of resilience and opportunism, and the Vikings will now turn their focus to a forthcoming clash with Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, scheduled for early morning.
