Glenville High School’s football team posted a 34‑14 victory over Oletangy Liberty on Thursday, snapping a winless start to the season and improving to 1‑1 overall.
Controversy Off the Field
The win comes amid allegations that more than a dozen Glenville players were involved in a theft of over $4,500 from a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Columbus on August 27. Police said the merchandise was reported missing around 7:25 p.m., and some items were later returned. Coaches have fully cooperated with investigators, though the names of the accused have not been disclosed.
Offensive standouts drove the offense. Quarterback LaMarques Greenwood accounted for four rushing touchdowns, covering two, 29, five and three yards, while junior quarterback Elvis Koutsakis connected on a 46‑yard strike to receiver Garry Pritchett in the fourth quarter.
A Dominant Early Surge
Glenville built a 27‑0 lead by the end of the third quarter, outscoring Liberty in each of the first three periods. The early onslaught left the opposition unable to mount a comeback, cementing the team’s control of the game.
The victory marks the first win of the season for a program eager to rebound after a challenging offseason. With the controversy still unfolding, the team will look to focus on the field as the schedule progresses.
