Boston College’s field hockey program is gearing up for the 2026 season, a campaign that promises a fresh start after a 6‑10 finish in 2025.
Leadership and Experience
The Eagles will lean on a core of veterans, including senior goalkeeper Charlotte Kramer, who enters her final year as the program’s tenth‑most winningest net‑minder with 18 career victories and three shutouts.
Captains Madelieve Drion, Maeve Seeger and Laila Rosenquest have been entrusted with guiding a squad that returns 14 of its 2025 contributors.
Drion proved to be the team’s most potent offensive weapon in 2025, topping the Eagles in points, goals and shots on goal, while graduate midfielder Milou Klein arrives after earning a spot on the All‑ACC Preseason Team.
Fresh Faces
Seven newcomers, among them international recruit Ike Jakobsen, Top‑50 prospect Regan Welsh and Lucy Parker, are expected to make an immediate impact.
Jakobsen brings a résumé of leadership as former captain of the KZ WU18 side and a stint with the Dutch WU16 National Team, while Welsh arrives as one of the nation’s most highly‑rated recruits.
The schedule opens on Friday, September 5, at 3 p.m. when the Eagles host Providence in Newton, marking the 40th meeting between the programs and extending a 14‑game winning streak for Boston College.
Providence, which finished 2025 at 8‑9 and fell in the Big East Tournament final, will be led by Big East Midfielder of the Year Bo Martina, who returns for her final season.
Boston College will also test itself against UAlbany on Sunday, a seventh‑meeting series that includes a 3‑1 home victory last year, and will travel to face Maryland, Northwestern and Duke as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge from September 4‑6.
