On August 30 the Lindenwood men's soccer team traveled to Dayton, Ohio, where they met Wright State in a 12:00 p.m. Central Time contest that ended in a 7‑0 victory for the Lions.
Just days earlier the Lions had dismantled Blackburn College 7‑0 on Wednesday, a performance that featured six different scorers and a total of 31 shots, 15 of which were on target.
That win propelled Lindenwood to the top of the Ohio Valley Conference in goals scored, with ten tallies across three games, while the defense limited opponents to a single shot on goal in the second half of each match.
A Promising Start
Key contributors include Luca Bartoni, who leads the conference in points with six and goals with three, Omar Sanderson, whose first career game‑winner came in the Blackburn match, and Luke Neely, who shares the league lead in assists with two.
The team’s offense has been bolstered by David Magalhaes, who scored two goals in the Blackburn game, and a collective effort that saw six players net their first goals of the 2026 season.
Looking ahead, Lindenwood will face Butler on September 4 at 4 p.m. Central, a matchup that will be streamed live on ESPN+ and is expected to test the Lions’ early‑season form.
In contrast, Wright State finally recorded their first win of the 2026 campaign, edging Eastern Illinois 2‑1 after a late comeback, a result that highlights the parity among the league’s mid‑tier programs.
