A Legacy of Soccer
Kara Vezza-Herring, a 2003 graduate of Quaker Valley High School, will be inducted into the Quaker Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2026, recognizing her as the program’s all‑time leading scorer with 116 goals and 166 points.
Her impact spanned multiple positions — striker, center midfielder and right winger — earning four all‑section selections, three all‑WPIAL honors and two all‑state nods, while helping the Quakers capture four section titles and reach the state final in 2001.
The Vezza family’s soccer pedigree runs deep; older sister Angel Vezza also earned Hall of Fame induction, and their parents, Dominic and Patty Vezza, coached the team, while brothers Ben, Isaiah, Luca and Dominico honed their skills on local fields.
After a four‑year stint with Division I Georgia State University, Vezza-Herring remained connected to the regional soccer scene, contributing to clubs such as the Beadling Soccer Club and the PA West Olympic Development Program, and later appearing in exhibition matches with the Riverhounds.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on October 16 at Chuck Knox Stadium in Pittsburgh, followed by a gathering at Sewickley Heights Golf Club on October 18, where she will be celebrated alongside fellow inductees John Martin and Farrah Causby.
Family, Faith and Future
Beyond statistics, Vezza-Herring credits her family’s steadfast support and the values instilled by her Quaker education for shaping her approach to the game and life after college.
The induction ceremony, scheduled for the fall of 2026, promises to highlight not only individual achievement but also the enduring influence of a soccer‑centric family that has left an indelible mark on Quaker Valley’s athletic heritage.
