The Detroit News has released its Week 2 high school football rankings, breaking down the top teams across four geographic zones: North, East, West, and Detroit.
In the North zone, Detroit Catholic Central stands atop the list after a 55‑0 drubbing of Clinton Township Chippewa Valley in the season opener, improving to 1‑0.
North Zone Standouts
The early leaders also include Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, Birmingham Brother Rice, Howell, Clarkston, Oxford, Brighton and Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, each posting a 1‑0 record after winning their first games.
Rochester Adams, however, fell to Romeo in Week 1, leaving them at 0‑1 as they look to rebound.
East and West Front Runners
Warren De La Salle dominates the East zone with a 71‑6 victory over Hamtramck, securing a 1‑0 start, while Saline leads the West with a 39‑12 win over Rockford.
In the Detroit zone, Detroit Cass Tech opened the season with a 62‑0 triumph over Michigan City, Indiana, positioning themselves as the team to watch.
The pattern across the board is clear: most of the top‑ranked squads began their campaigns with wins, setting a competitive tone for the remainder of the schedule.
