Hawks Triumph in Season Opener
Saint Joseph's women's soccer team opened its season with a 1-0 win over Bucknell on Tuesday, the lone goal arriving in the 12th minute after a cross from Olivia Benzing set up the striker.
Sophomore forward Sarah Fisher, who had already found the net three times in her first three appearances, capped the milestone by scoring her fourth goal in as many games, becoming the first player in program history to achieve that feat.
Goalkeeper Lauren Lebo preserved the lead with seven saves, including several key stops in the second half that kept Bucknell at bay and secured the shutout.
Benzing also logged her first assist of the season, underscoring her role in the early offensive push that proved decisive.
The Hawks now shift focus to a local rivalry, facing Temple on Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m., a match that could further solidify their early standing in the Atlantic 10.
