Ohio University’s men’s basketball team has confirmed the signing of Belgian forward Siebe Ledegen, slated to join the program for the 2026‑27 campaign. The move comes as the Bobcats look to add depth and versatility to a squad that finished the previous season with a promising but youthful core.
Head coach Jeff Boals praised the newcomer, describing Ledegen as an experienced wing capable of operating both inside the paint and on the perimeter. Boals highlighted the player’s ability to adapt to multiple roles, a trait he believes will accelerate the team’s development.
A Versatile Addition
Ledegen, a 6‑7 forward hailing from Aalst, Belgium, previously starred for Okapi Aalst in the Belgian Pro Basketball League. Over the 2025‑26 season he posted averages of 12.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, while shooting a career‑high 57.1 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from three‑point range and 81.3 percent from the free‑throw line.
He scored in double figures on 30 occasions during that campaign, with a season‑high 26 points achieved against Groningen on March 28, 2026. His consistency at the scoring end was matched by his defensive contributions, making him a well‑rounded prospect for the Bobcats.
Beyond his club duties, Ledegen earned caps with the Belgian National Team from 2023 through 2026 and featured in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup European Qualifiers, where he averaged 7.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. That international exposure should provide a valuable learning curve as he transitions to NCAA competition.
Coach Boals emphasized that the addition of a player with both European club experience and national team involvement aligns with the program’s goal of recruiting globally competitive talent. The coaching staff expects Ledegen to contribute immediately, especially in stretch‑four situations and as a secondary playmaker.
The Bobcats’ front office also sees the signing as a strategic move to strengthen ties with European scouting networks, potentially opening pathways for future recruits from the continent. Fans can look forward to seeing how Ledegen’s skill set meshes with the existing roster as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
