Massachusetts high school football enters its 2025 campaign with two divisions poised for dramatic storylines. In Division 3, the reigning champions King Philip are gearing up to defend their crown, while in Division 4 Scituate looks to extend its recent run of titles.
Title Defenses and New Frontiers
King Philip’s new head coach, Anthony Vizakis, steps into the role after longtime mentor Brian Lee retired following a 21‑year tenure. Vizakis inherits a squad that features standout athletes such as Brody Zolak, Brendan O’Brien and Patrick Terio, each expected to anchor the offense and defense.
Meanwhile, Malden Catholic High School, though eliminated in the Division 3 semifinals last year, showed marked improvement under head coach Joseph Gaff. The team’s upgraded schedule and growing playoff confidence suggest a deeper run may be on the horizon.
Scituate, the past two Division 4 champions, return star running back Grayson Foley and will be led at quarterback by Tyler Stelljes. The duo aims to recapture the magic that previously delivered back‑to‑back titles at Gillette Stadium.
Tewksbury and Walpole also present strong contenders. Tewksbury’s returning quarterback Will Harrison is expected to steer the Redmen as a top contender, while Walpole’s coach Chris Sullivan brings back a core group including Blake Pileski, Zach Lamoureux and Mason Falcone.
The broader landscape includes other notable programs such as Barnstable, North Attleboro, Mansfield, Marshfield and Hingham in Division 3, and Duxbury, Burlington, Canton and Marblehead in Division 4, all of which could influence the playoff picture.
As the season unfolds, the interplay of fresh leadership, key player returns and competitive balance will shape the narrative across the state.
