Emma Von Essen, a standout guard from Hofstra University, has signed with the Jacksonville Waves as the franchise prepares for its debut in the UpShot League.
During her collegiate career the 6‑foot‑1 forward amassed 1,137 points, placing her 18th on the school’s all‑time scoring list, while her 244 three‑point makes rank second in program history.
In the 2023‑24 season she knocked down 85 treys, the third‑most in a single campaign, and earned a spot on the 2026 CAA All‑Tournament Team, averaging 10 points and 1.8 made threes in the championship game.
Coach Bogia’s Transition
Jessica Bogia, who spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Hofstra, also served as the program’s recruiting coordinator during the 2023‑24 year and was part of a staff that compiled 15 victories, including 14 wins in the 2024‑25 campaign.
Her familiarity with the university’s talent pipeline and her proven ability to attract top prospects are expected to accelerate the Waves’ roster development ahead of the May 15 debut.
