A First‑Ever Co‑Ed Basketball Experience
Feather River College Athletics is set to host its inaugural co‑ed youth basketball camp, bringing together the college’s men’s and women’s programs to create a unified learning environment for young athletes. The camp runs across four consecutive Sundays, offering a structured curriculum that mixes fundamental skill work, competitive play, and pure fun.
Campers will be grouped by grade level to ensure age‑appropriate instruction. Prekindergarten through second grade will meet from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., third through sixth grade from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., and seventh through twelfth grade from noon to 1:15 p.m. Each session is designed to build confidence, improve technique, and foster a love of the game.
Coaching From the Front Lines
The instruction will be led by Feather River College basketball players and coaches, who will provide hands‑on guidance and mentorship. Participants will work directly with the college athletes, gaining insights that go beyond typical youth clinics and experiencing the same training environment used by the college’s own teams.
Early‑bird registration is priced at $75 and remains available until September 1, after which the standard fee rises to $90. Parents can secure spots through an online registration portal, and further details can be obtained by contacting head coach Ashley Chavira via email or phone.
Community Impact and Future Outlook
Beyond skill development, the camp aims to strengthen community ties by inviting families from across the region to engage with the college’s athletic programs. Organizers hope the initiative will inspire the next generation of players and contribute to the growth of basketball in the Feather River area.
