Dickinson Field Hockey Opens 2026 Season with High Hopes

Ranked ninth nationally, the Devils aim for their first Centennial Conference title

The Dickinson Field Hockey program, sitting ninth in the 2025 national rankings, is set to kick off its 2026 campaign on September 1st, when it welcomes Messiah University to the campus field for a 7 p.m. showdown.

Coming off an immaculate 12‑0 season a year ago, the Devils will play eight home contests and travel nine times, a schedule that blends familiar foes with a gauntlet of preseason Top‑25 opponents.

Among those rivals are Johns Hopkins, currently second in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, as well as Franklin & Marshall at sixteenth and Washington and Lee at twenty‑three, underscoring the rigor of the early slate.

A Quest for the First Conference Crown

Second‑year head coach Maggie Sohns will guide the squad, hoping to translate the momentum of last season into the program’s first Centennial Conference championship.

The returning core features All‑American Nicole Uebele, All‑Conference midfielder Alexandra Hockwitt, and senior stalwarts Caroline Kirkpatrick, Megan McClure and Ella McTeague, whose experience should anchor both attack and defense.

First‑year newcomers such as Raegan Carty, Olga Chemodakov, Ella Ledenko, Emma O’Boyle and Lucy Stenger are expected to make immediate impacts, adding depth to a roster that blends youthful energy with senior leadership.

The slate includes a road trip through Shenandoah, DeSales, Juniata and Ursinus, while a conference tournament rematch is slated for September 30th, and senior day will be observed on October 3rd against Bryn Mawr, culminating with the final home game on October 24th versus Franklin & Marshall.

Defensively, the team leans on Devon Damminger, Riley Oakes, Hockwitt and McTeague, with Arden Cook slated to shoulder key goalkeeping duties, aiming to preserve the shutout pedigree that defined the 2025 run.

With a blend of seasoned veterans, promising newcomers, and a demanding schedule, the Devils are poised to build on last year’s excitement and contend for their first Centennial Conference title.
