The Section 9 girls flag football tournament for 2026 will showcase eleven qualified schools, culminating in a championship set for May 29 at James I. O'Neill High School. The competition is organized into three classes, each following its own knockout path to determine a class champion before the overall title is decided.
Semifinals Across the Classes
Class A semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, featuring a matchup between Pine Bush and Middletown, as well as a contest between Kingston and Monroe‑Woodbury. Both games pit top‑seeded teams against one another, promising intense competition as they vie for a spot in the final.
The following day, Wednesday, May 27, will host the Class B semifinal where Minisink Valley meets Warwick. The contest is expected to be closely fought, with both programs having demonstrated strong form throughout the season.
Also on May 27, the Class C semifinals will see Saugerties take on Rhinebeck and Burke Catholic face Our Lady of Lourdes. These matchups will round out the penultimate round of competition before the championship game.
The finals, scheduled for Friday, May 29, will bring together the winners of each class in a single championship game at James I. O'Neill High School. The event will crown the overall Section 9 champion and highlight the growing popularity of girls flag football in the region.
