The Middlebury Panthers field hockey program enters the 2026 campaign as the seventh‑ranked team in the nation, a standing that reflects a decade‑plus of dominance in Division III. Over the past eight seasons the squad has compiled a 160‑13 record and captured seven of the last eight NCAA championships, underscoring a consistency that few programs can match.
Guided by head coach Katharine DeLorenzo, who is in her 26th year and has amassed 501 career victories, the team blends veteran leadership with a wave of new talent. DeLorenzo’s tenure includes seven NFHCA Division III Coaching Staff of the Year honors in the past eight seasons, a testament to the program’s sustained excellence.
A Deep Roster of Leaders
Captains Megan Fuqua, Ally Kennedy and Claire McMichael will anchor the side, each bringing a distinct skill set. Fuqua’s 14 goals and 30 points earned her NFHCA Third‑Team All‑American honors last season, while Kennedy’s playmaking helped limit opponents to just 21 goals, and McMichael’s six assists and three game‑winning goals highlighted a dynamic attack.
Supporting them are standout performers such as goalkeeper Izzy Redzic, whose 1.02 goals‑against average placed her fourth in the NESCAC, and defenders Tessa Herbst and Lily Stockwell, both of whom earned All‑Region and All‑NESCAC recognition.
The offensive firepower is further bolstered by Emma McCann, who netted six goals and two assists, including back‑to‑back winners against Skidmore and Connecticut College, and Addie Chandler, who tied for the team lead in game‑winning scores.
A Coaching Legacy
The 2026 roster also welcomes seven first‑year players who are expected to make immediate contributions. The season opener is scheduled for September 5 against Union (N.Y.) at Peter Kohn Field, where the Panthers will look to translate their regular‑season momentum into another deep tournament run.
