Kendall Coyne Schofield, the veteran forward and captain of the Frost Hockey Club, has agreed to a two‑year contract that will keep her with the franchise through the 2027‑28 season. The deal was announced amid considerable fanfare, underscoring the team’s intent to build on recent successes.
Schofield’s return comes after a standout campaign in which she recorded 12 goals and 23 points in just 23 games, helping the Frost post the league’s highest‑scoring offense in 2025. Her contributions have placed her tied for third in all‑time PWHL scoring with 63 points in 77 career games, and fourth in career goals with 30.
The agreement also highlights her deep roots in Minnesota hockey. She helped the state’s PWHL franchise capture back‑to‑back Walter Cups in 2023 and 2024 before joining the Frost as an Original Six member in 2024. Her leadership was on display during the previous postseason, where the team fell to eventual champion Montreal after a dominant regular season.
A Roster Laden with Championship Experience
Schofield will once again lead a roster that features eight two‑time Walter Cup winners. Forwards Kelly Pannek, Claire Butorac, Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle, defenders Lee Stecklein and Natalie Buchbinder, and goaltender Maddie Rooney give the club a blend of experience and talent that should make them a formidable contender.
Beyond the ice, the Frost’s presence in St. Paul will be amplified by the Iowa Wild’s preseason schedule. The American Hockey League affiliate will host games against the Manitoba Moose in St. Paul, with all proceeds directed to the Minnesota Wild Foundation, reinforcing the club’s commitment to community outreach.
