Australia’s National Basketball Teams Unveil New Uniforms Featuring ‘AUS’ Logo and Indigenous Artwork

The redesign aims to blend heritage with a modern identity ahead of upcoming international competitions.

A New Look for Australian Basketball

Basketball Australia has rolled out a fresh set of uniforms for its national teams, marking a subtle but symbolic shift in the way the country presents itself on the court. The new kit swaps the long‑standing ‘AUSTRALIA’ chest emblem for the abbreviated ‘AUS’, while preserving the iconic Australian coat of arms and the FIBA badge.

Two colourways – a deep green with gold lettering and a reverse gold with green lettering – are paired with contrasting hems on the shorts, giving each version a distinct yet cohesive look. Each side of the jersey is adorned with artwork by First Nations creator Danny O’Shane, whose designs are intended to echo ‘connection to land, culture, and family and community.’

The rollout schedule sees the Opals debut the designs at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany, with the Rollers and Gliders following at the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation World Championships in Canada in September. The Boomers will wear the new garments during the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers in November.

Basketball Australia chief executive Matt Scriven said the collection reflects both the historical roots and the contemporary aspirations of Australian basketball, aiming to forge a shared identity across all teams.
