A breakout performance earns conference honor
Jaime Godinho, a sophomore forward from Lisbon, Portugal, has quickly become a key catalyst for the George Mason Patriots. In a 3‑1 victory over William & Mary, the young attacker not only found the back of the net twice but also delivered the decisive game‑winning goal, sealing a 77‑minute contest that showcased his growing influence on the team.
Godinho’s first goal arrived in the 36th minute, opening the scoring after a series of early chances. He doubled the lead in the 49th minute, striking with precision from all three of his shots on target. The Patriots’ defense held firm for the remainder of the match, preserving the narrow advantage until the final whistle.
The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized the sophomore’s impact by naming him Offensive Player of the Week. The accolade highlights not only his individual brilliance but also the pivotal role he plays in George Mason’s early‑season push for conference contention.
