Rick Lammerts, a junior goalkeeper from Indianapolis, has been recognized as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his stellar play in men’s soccer.

His performance helped the University of Indianapolis (UIndy) open the season unbeaten, highlighted by a six‑save outing against Lake Erie that turned a tight contest into a clean sheet.
Lammerts logged 180 minutes across two matches, facing 22 shots and making a total of seven saves, including a standout stretch where he denied six attempts in a single game.
The award marks the first time Lammerts has received the GLVC Defensive Athlete of the Week honor and the inaugural Defensive Player of the Week award presented in the 2026 season.
Coach praised the keeper’s consistency, noting that his presence between the posts has been a cornerstone of the team’s early success.
With the team now 2‑0, the Knights look to extend their unbeaten streak as they prepare for upcoming conference matchups.
