Marquette University announced on the opening day of the fall semester that Amina Traore, a 6‑foot‑2 center from Paris, France, has officially joined the women’s basketball program for the 2026‑27 season.
Traore arrives after a stint in France’s LF2 league with Monaco BA, where she logged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in just nine minutes per game during the 2025‑26 campaign. Her professional résumé also includes appearances for France’s youth national teams, giving her a blend of domestic and international exposure.
On the world stage, Traore contributed to France’s campaigns at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup and the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship, averaging 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in the latter tournament.
Because she was born in February 2004, NCAA rules classify her as a senior with two years of eligibility remaining, a status that adds depth to Marquette’s frontcourt as the team looks to reshape its lineup.
A Strategic Addition
The signing comes at a pivotal moment for the Golden Eagles, who enter the season with three open scholarship spots after the departures of Jordan Meulemans and the commitment of Haylie Dulas for the following class.
Coach Cara Conseugra highlighted Traore’s defensive versatility, her ability to anchor the paint, and her offensive flexibility, noting that the player embodies the work ethic and team‑first mentality that define our program.
The addition is part of a broader rebuilding effort after a challenging 2025‑26 season that fell short of NCAA tournament expectations. By bolstering the interior with a player who brings both size and experience, Marquette hopes to climb back into contention and restore its competitive edge.
