UWF Announces 2026 Division I Football Schedule

Eleven-game slate kicks off with a home showdown against Southern Illinois and revives historic rivalries

A New Chapter for the Argos

The University of West Florida unveiled its 11‑game football schedule for the 2026 season on May 21, marking the first year of Division I competition for the program.

The Argos will open the season at home against Southern Illinois on August 27, 2026, at PenAir Field, before traveling to face Central Arkansas in the conference opener on September 5.

The schedule blends four non‑conference matchups with seven contests in the United Athletic Conference, the league UWF joined as part of its transition to Division I.

Conference Play and Rivalries

Key conference dates include a Family Weekend showdown with Austin Peay on September 19, a Homecoming battle against West Alabama on October 17, and a Salute to Service game against Tarleton State on November 14.

The season will also feature a rekindled rivalry at West Georgia on November 21, closing out the inaugural Division I campaign.

Looking Ahead

UWF will not be eligible for NCAA Championship competition until the 2029‑30 academic year, but the team enters the season riding an 11‑2 record from its recent Division II semifinal run, bringing high expectations to the new Division I stage.

Competing in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, the Argos will face opponents from across the country, including teams from Illinois, Arkansas, Kentucky and Georgia, as they begin a new era of collegiate football.
