A Community's Tribute
On March 21, 2026, a devastating house fire in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, took the lives of Jessi Pierce and her three children, Hudson, Cayden and Avery.
The Minnesota Wild quickly confirmed the tragedy, identifying the victims and underscoring the depth of loss felt across the state's hockey community.
Jessi Pierce spent more than ten years writing about the Minnesota Wild and the broader NHL for outlets such as NHL.com, USA Hockey, The Athletic and Minnesota Hockey Journal, earning a reputation for vivid storytelling and tireless advocacy that brought fans closer to the game.
In response to this profound loss, Minnesota Hockey, together with the Wild, announced the Jessi Pierce Community Cup, a three‑day tournament set for December 11‑13, 2026 at TRIA Rink in St. Paul.
The event is designed not only to celebrate Pierce’s passion for hockey but also to generate funds for the newly created Jessi Pierce Legacy Scholarship Program, which will support aspiring players through Minnesota Hockey.
Organizers hope the tournament will unite players, families and supporters from across the region, creating a lasting tribute that reflects her enduring influence on the sport.
