The University of Connecticut men's basketball program announced its complete non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, a lineup that blends high‑profile matchups with a series of lower‑profile opponents.
Exhibition Games Set the Tone
The Huskies will open the season with three exhibition contests, beginning with a trip to Mohegan Sun on October 13 to face Syracuse, followed by a home showdown against Michigan State on October 20 and a road game at Purdue on October 27.
In addition to the exhibitions, the regular schedule features a mix of traditional powerhouses and emerging programs. The Huskies are slated to meet Michigan, Illinois, Arizona, Duke, Ohio State, Virginia, Kansas, as well as Wagner, Mississippi Valley State, and Delaware State.
Wagner entered the season after a 14-17 finish and a semifinal loss in the Northeast Conference, while Mississippi Valley State posted a 3-30 record overall and a winless 2-16 in SWAC play. Delaware State, under head coach DeSean Jackson, finished 8-23 with a 2-12 conference mark.
Strategic Rest and Development
Coach Dan Hurley framed the schedule as an opportunity to give veteran players needed rest while affording younger roster members valuable game‑time experience against a range of competition levels.
The blend of marquee matchups and manageable early‑season games is designed to position the Huskies for a strong start in conference play and to build depth as the season progresses.
