Alex Accetta Returns to Alabama Basketball as Director of Program Relations

The former Alabama operations chief and Dallas Mavericks guest experience staffer will now oversee program relations, reporting to executive deputy athletic director Shane Lyons.

Alex Accetta, the wife of Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats, is returning to the university’s basketball program as director of program relations, a move that brings together her deep familiarity with both the Crimson Tide and the professional game.

A Familiar Path Back to Tuscaloosa

During her first stint with Alabama, from 2015 to 2022, Accetta progressed from a student assistant to director of operations, overseeing team travel, logistics and on‑campus recruiting visits, and culminating in a leadership position that shaped the program’s day‑to‑day coordination.

After leaving Alabama in 2022, she spent four seasons with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks in a guest experience capacity, gaining exposure to franchise operations and fan engagement strategies that she now intends to apply within the college setting.

In her new role, Accetta will report to Shane Lyons, Alabama’s executive deputy athletic director and men’s basketball sport administrator, and will work to strengthen program relations and improve operational effectiveness across the basketball program.
