Maddie Sibbing, a junior goalkeeper for Kansas State, was named the IWSOC National Player of the Week for week three of the 2026 season, the first ever such honor in program history.
Historic First for K-State
The accolade reflects a dominant start to the season, highlighted by a 0.20 goals‑against average and a 4‑0‑1 record that includes a league‑leading three shutouts. Sibbing has kept a clean sheet for three straight matches, accumulating 356 minutes and 10 seconds without conceding, a span that ranks third in program history. Her six saves in the recent 0‑0 draw with Nebraska, five of which came after halftime, included a decisive penalty‑kick stop in the 67th minute, underscoring her composure under pressure.
Beyond this week, Sibbing has earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors three times during her career and joins a select group of K‑State keepers who have saved penalty kicks, a feat achieved only three times since 2021. As the Wildcats gear up for a crucial three‑match road trip, they open Thursday at 7 p.m. against Iowa, a contest that will be streamed on Big Ten+.
