Wednesday Night Hockey Returns for 2026‑27 Season
Prime Video’s NHL on Prime Video is set to launch its ‘Wednesday Night Hockey’ slate for the 2026‑27 season, featuring 27 regular‑season contests that will be streamed exclusively to Canadian subscribers. Every game will be presented in both English and French, underscoring the league’s commitment to a bilingual audience.
The schedule kicks off on September 30, 2026, with a marquee showdown between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders. The contest will see rookie Gavin McKenna, the first‑overall pick of the 2026 NHL Draft, make his debut for Toronto against Matthew Schaefer, the top selection from the 2025 draft for the Islanders.
In addition to the opener, the Maple Leafs will appear in six Prime‑only games, facing the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning among others, while the Montreal Canadiens are slated for seven appearances, highlighted by a October 14 clash with the Washington Capitals.
The Ottawa Senators will also feature four Prime broadcasts, including a highly anticipated return of former captain Brady Tkachuk, who will be skating with the Florida Panthers on October 21.
Western Canada’s rivalry will be on display as the Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames each receive four slots, culminating in the Battle of Alberta on October 28 when the Edmonton Oilers host the Flames.
The Vancouver Canucks, under new head coach Manny Malhotra, will have two Prime games, beginning with a November 25 matchup against the Detroit Red Wings and concluding with a December 16 showdown versus the Anaheim Ducks.
Select Stanley Cup Playoff series will be available only to Canadian Prime members, and all contests will be aired in both official languages, ensuring a seamless viewing experience across the country.
