Kenneth Weaver Takes the Helm of North Putnam Boys Basketball

A veteran coach with deep roots in Indiana high school basketball steps in to guide a program that values development and togetherness.

Kenneth Weaver has been appointed boys basketball coach at North Putnam High School, taking over a program that has emphasized player development and community engagement.

Weaver arrives after a two‑year stint as an assistant at Fishers High School, where he worked under state‑championship‑winning coach Garrett Winegar. His career began in 2015 at Decatur Central and includes tenures at Ben Davis, Bishop Chatard and Mooresville, as well as two seasons as an assistant at Franklin College from 2022 to 2024.

He succeeds Vince Brooks, whose seven‑year tenure produced a 96‑78 record but concluded with two consecutive losing seasons that led the administration to forgo a contract renewal.

Weaver highlighted the importance of high‑level culture, preparation and togetherness, saying he is excited to collaborate with an administration that shares his vision for building a successful program.

A Coach With a Championship Pedigree

Having coached under Don Carlisle at Ben Davis, Weaver absorbed a disciplined approach that complements his own emphasis on preparation. He also values the mentorship of seasoned administrators who prioritize community involvement.

The new coach also brings experience mentoring college athletes and has contested two state championship games as an assistant, underscoring a depth of knowledge that he hopes will translate into sustained growth for the Putnam County squad.
