Stevens Secures 2-1 Victory Over Rowan in Competitive Field Hockey Match

Late goals by Piantieri and Flynn spark comeback at DeBaun Athletic Complex

At the DeBaun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, New Jersey, the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team turned a slow start into a 2-1 win over Rowan University on Saturday.

Jenna Piantieri broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, assisted by Molly DiCampli, and later Lauren Flynn added the decisive goal in the 48th minute after a pass from Jess Kopernick, completing the comeback.

Defensively, Natalie Ward made six saves while allowing just one goal, and Lauren Flynn contributed two crucial stops, moving her into third place on the all-time saves list.

Although Rowan recorded a 15-12 shot advantage and earned nine penalty corners compared to Stevens' nine, the visitors managed only five shots on goal, highlighting their inefficiency in converting chances.

With the victory, Stevens, currently ranked No. 12 in the nation, prepares for its first road test of the season at Swarthmore College on Saturday at noon, while Rowan, ranked No. 14, will look to rebound.
