The top‑ranked recruit is set to visit Syracuse later this month as the Orange chase their first high‑school commitment

A top-tier recruit eyes the Orange

Chance Berry, a four‑star guard from Canada, has placed Syracuse women’s basketball among her official top eight recruiting destinations, a move that underscores the program’s growing appeal to elite talent.

The 2027 class prospect, ranked No. 50 nationally by ESPN, will travel to Syracuse University for an official visit beginning on September 18, after the Orange staff extended a scholarship offer on June 8, 2025.

Berry’s basketball journey has taken her from Royal Crown School in Toronto to the DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida, and she has also represented Team Canada on the international stage, competing in the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship.

Head coach Felisha Legette‑Jack, who first reached out to Berry with a scholarship offer, is now looking to secure the program’s inaugural verbal commitment from a high‑school senior, a milestone that could signal a new era for the Orange.

Her performances have been impressive: at the 2024 U17 World Cup she posted 6.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 66.7 % from the field, and in the 2023 Americas Championship she averaged 9.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals with a 50.0 % field‑goal percentage.
