South Dakota State University's men's basketball team, the Jackrabbits, has released its 2026‑27 schedule, a comprehensive slate that opens on November 3 with a road game at Kansas State and culminates on March 4 with the Summit League championship in Sioux Falls.
This will be the second season under head coach Bryan Petersen, who took the helm last year and will aim to build on the progress made during his inaugural year.
Season Highlights
Among the season’s most anticipated non‑conference matchups are the first visit to Manhattan in five years for a November 3 game against Kansas State, and a trip to New Orleans for the inaugural Second Line Showcase, where the Jackrabbits will contest South Alabama on November 28 and Fresno State on November 29.
The home opener is set for November 6 against Briar Cliff at the First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, followed by a series of Missouri Valley Conference foes such as Valparaiso on November 11 and a rematch with Idaho State on November 20, while the Jackrabbits also travel to Rapid City on November 14 to face Northern Colorado at The Monument.
In addition to the conference road trips, the schedule includes a home‑and‑home series with Abilene Christian in Texas on November 25 and December 5, additional home games against Milwaukee on December 8, Idaho on December 12 and Buena Vista on December 14, and a late‑season showdown with Nevada on December 29.
The regular season wraps up with a home contest against Dakota Wesleyan on January 2, the start of conference play on January 7, and the Summit League championship on March 4 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.
