Two elite boys basketball players from Tompkins High School have formally signed letters of intent, signaling the culmination of standout high school careers that have drawn attention across the state.
College Destinations and Career Highlights
Carter Shipman, a senior from the Katy campus, will continue his basketball journey at Texas A&M University‑Kingsville. Over four years at Tompkins, he amassed 782 points, 436 rebounds and 35 blocked shots, while maintaining an average of 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game during the 2025‑26 season.
Shipman’s contributions earned him District 19‑6A first‑team all‑district honors and the distinction of defensive player of the year for the 2024‑25 campaign. He also captured the team’s most valuable player award that same season, underscoring his impact on both ends of the floor.
Awards and Recognition
In addition to his district accolades, Shipman was recognized as the team’s most valuable player in 2024‑25 and secured first‑team all‑district honors for the 2025‑26 season, reflecting a consistent pattern of excellence that helped shape his reputation as a defensive stalwart.
Fola Sodipo, also a product of Tompkins, has committed to Western Carolina University. His high school résumé includes 697 points, 359 rebounds and 43 blocked shots, paired with a 2025‑26 average of 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot per game.
Sodipo’s defensive prowess was acknowledged with District 19‑6A first‑team all‑district honors and defensive player of the year for the 2025‑26 season, as well as the same distinction in 2024‑25, cementing his status as one of the region’s most versatile defenders.
