Recruiting Momentum Builds Across Sports
Iowa State University opened its campus this past Saturday for a high‑profile recruiting weekend, drawing a mix of football and basketball prospects to the heart of Ames. The event came on the heels of a decisive victory for new head coach Jimmy Rogers, whose team defeated SEMO and injected fresh optimism into the program.
Quarterback Cash Hollingshead, a 2027 recruit, made an unofficial visit to Jack Trice Stadium, where he mingled with teammates before the game. Already this season, Hollingshead has posted eight passing touchdowns and two rushing scores by the end of Week 4, underscoring his early impact.
The Cyclone football staff used the gathering to showcase the program to a dozen 2028 prospects, while the basketball side welcomed three of its 2027 commits, a 2028 recruit and several younger guards who are being closely watched. Together, the visits aim to generate sustained interest and help lock down talent for the 2027 and 2028 classes.
With the momentum from the recruiting weekend and the early-season win, Iowa State’s athletic department is positioning itself to strengthen both the football and basketball rosters, setting the stage for competitive seasons ahead.
