Shepherd University head coach Julie Kaufman revealed that six student-athletes have signed letters of intent to join the Rams’ women’s basketball squad for the 2026‑27 season, a class that blends seasoned talent with fresh faces.
A balanced roster
Among the newcomers, Olivia Bolduc arrives as a transfer from Johnson University, bringing a reputation as a regional MVP and first‑team All‑County guard who topped her county in scoring and assists, posting averages of 16.9 points and 4.5 assists per game. Joining her is Darrian Jackson, a 5‑8 guard who amassed more than 1,000 career points at Uniondale High School and earned two‑time All‑County honors while averaging 20.1 points, adding a potent scoring threat to the perimeter.
The freshmen bring a different kind of versatility. Kennedy Porter, a 5‑10 forward/center from Parkersburg High School, has already logged a double‑double average of 15 points and 13.9 rebounds, helped his team capture state championships and also excelled in volleyball. Meanwhile, Alexis Smothers, a 5‑7 guard from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, contributes across the board with 10 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist per game, while also competing in volleyball and track, underscoring her athletic breadth.
Completing the roster, guard Jayden Addison, a 5‑5 standout from Seneca Valley High School, brings a reputation for quickness and grit, having posted a 15‑point per game average that highlights his impact on the floor. Additionally, Gabriella Valentinetti, a 5‑5 guard who previously competed at Garrett Community College and Cheyney, is recognized for her rebounding instincts despite playing the guard position, adding depth and toughness to the backcourt.
Coach Kaufman emphasized that the mix of experienced transfers and promising newcomers will allow the Rams to diversify their offensive options and reinforce defensive stability, positioning the program for a strong push in the upcoming season.
