The Beekman Charter Tigers have endured three consecutive seasons without a winning record, finishing 3-7 last year, but a new era is dawning as former powerlifting champion Greg Hill steps in as head coach.
Coach Greg Hill’s Vision
Hill, who previously declined the job to stay closer to Monroe, now brings a full‑time focus to both football and school administration, leaving his powerlifting duties behind and reshaping the program’s culture.
The roster has been expanded from 34 to 55 players, a move that reflects Hill’s belief that academic performance and respect are as crucial as on‑field ability; only athletes meeting those standards have earned a spot on the squad.
For the first time in program history, the Tigers will call Bayou Jamb, a college stadium, their home field, signaling a step up in competition level and facilities.
Key figures include sophomore Korbin Rainey, who praised Hill’s understanding of the team’s needs, junior Elaythan Armstrong, a dual‑threat tailback and linebacker expected to see increased minutes, and California transfer Jeremy Spivey, who has taken the helm at quarterback.
Trenton West, known for his versatility and relentless drive, remains a cornerstone of the squad, while Hill predicts that with players of West’s caliber the team could secure nine or ten victories.
Despite a demanding schedule that opens with a road game against a strong Buckeye opponent and early district matchups, the coaching staff is confident that the combination of a larger, more disciplined roster and a renewed emphasis on winning will lift the program out of its recent slump.
