The LSU Tigers erupted for a 51-10 victory over Clemson on Saturday, a performance that underscored the dominance of their defense in front of a lively crowd in Baton Rouge.
Defensive Mastery in Baton Rouge
Jordan Ross was the catalyst of the night, securing an interception that he returned 30 yards for a touchdown in the opening quarter and then immediately following with a four‑yard loss on Clemson’s next possession. His effort earned him the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honor, the first of his career, while he also recorded four tackles, a sack for 11 yards, a quarterback hurry and a tackle for loss.
Blake Baker’s defensive scheme limited Clemson to just 145 total yards and forced only eight first downs, while the Tigers restricted the opposition to six plays inside LSU territory. Ross and the defensive line combined for 11 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and four sacks, illustrating the relentless pressure that defined the game.
Ross’s journey to this recognition includes two seasons at Tennessee, where he recorded 26 tackles, five for loss and 1.5 sacks across 22 appearances, before transferring to LSU and becoming a key component of the Tigers’ front seven.
The dominant showing not only secured the weekly accolade for Ross but also reinforced LSU’s reputation as a defensive powerhouse as the season progresses, promising further challenges for upcoming opponents.
