Richmond Field Hockey Stars Earn Weekly Honors

Clara Larripa and Abril Peroni recognized as the Atlantic 10’s top performers while the Spiders prepare for upcoming matchups

Richmond’s field hockey program has taken a notable step forward this season, with sophomore Clara Larripa and freshman Abril Peroni capturing Atlantic 10 weekly honors for the second straight week, highlighting the Spiders’ growing competitiveness.

Weekly Accolades

Larripa, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was named the A10 Offensive Player of the Week after delivering the decisive goals in both of Richmond’s 2‑0 victories, including a penalty‑corner strike in the 43rd minute against American and a pair of tallies in the early minutes of the Longwood match that completed her sixth career hat‑trick.

Peroni, who grew up in Córdoba, Argentina, earned Rookie of the Week recognition after contributing eight points over four games, most notably scoring the Spiders’ fourth goal in the 49th minute against Longwood, a performance that helped lift the team’s record to 3‑1.

The weekend shutout series not only secured Richmond’s third win but also showcased the depth of the squad, with Malena Magnano assisting on a goal in the Longwood contest and the defense preserving clean sheets against both American and Longwood.

Looking ahead, the Spiders are set to host Georgetown on Friday, September 11, and then travel to face No. 5 North Carolina on Sunday, September 13; both matches will be streamed online at no cost.
