Indiana University’s football squad surged to No. 5 in the Associated Press poll after dismantling North Texas 52-16 on Saturday, a performance that underscored its early-season momentum.
The Hoosiers also hold the No. 5 spot in the Coaches Poll, a position they share with their preseason ranking, and they earned eight first-place votes, matching the tally they received before the season began.
Poll movements
Only four programs sit ahead of Indiana in the AP top ten – Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame and Texas – while the rest of the Big Ten is scattered throughout the top 25, with Oregon sliding to No. 6 after a narrow loss to Boise State.
The Big Ten’s presence is robust, as Oregon, USC, Penn State, Washington and Iowa all feature in the AP Top 25, while Michigan, UCLA, Illinois and Minnesota collected votes but remained outside the poll.
Indiana’s next challenge arrives on Saturday when they host Howard at noon Eastern Time, a matchup that will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
