CSUN’s women’s basketball program, led by head coach Angie Ned, has released its 2026-27 schedule, a 15-game slate that promises a rigorous test for the Matadors as they seek to translate last season’s first NCAA tournament appearance into sustained success.
Season Overview
The campaign opens on November 3 at Premier America Credit Union Arena with a home showdown against La Sierra, a team CSUN defeated 70-56 in the previous meeting, setting an early tone for the season.
Following the opener, the Matadors will embark on a West Coast road trip, traveling to Boise State on November 10 and San Diego on November 14 before returning home to face San Diego State on November 19, a stretch that will test their depth and resilience.
The Thanksgiving period brings a two-game road swing to St. Thomas, Minnesota, and Idaho on November 27-28 as part of the California Baptist Thanksgiving Tournament, adding non-conference competition to the mix.
Big West Conference play begins on December 3 with a rematch against Cal Poly, a rival CSUN has already beaten twice this season, and the schedule continues with a prolonged homestand from December 5 through January 2, featuring Cal State Bakersfield, Westcliff University and New Mexico State.
After the homestand, the Matadors will cap 2026 with a New Year’s Eve showdown against Sacramento State before concluding the regular season on January 2 with a road game at Utah Valley, rounding out a demanding slate.
Coach Ned, who previously served as an assistant at California Baptist University, brings a blend of experience and fresh perspective, and she hopes the challenging schedule will prepare the team for the intensity of conference play and the postseason.
The season’s ultimate goal is to capture the Big West Championship, scheduled for March 10 in Henderson, Nevada, a venue that will host the conference tournament and provide a platform for the Matadors to cement their rise back into the NCAA tournament.
