The Tucson Roadrunners have announced that Bob Hoffman will retire from his position as president after a ten‑year tenure, with Rob Mattina assuming the role of interim president effective October 1, 2026.
A Decade of Leadership
Hoffman’s decade at the helm, spanning the 2016‑2026 seasons, coincided with a series of milestones that reshaped the franchise’s profile in Southern Arizona.
During the 2025‑26 season the Roadrunners earned the American Hockey League Group Sales Award and were honored for corporate partnership growth, achievements that underscored the organization’s expanding influence in the region.
Mattina, who previously served as vice president of marketing for the Arizona Coyotes and the Detroit Red Wings, brings a blend of marketing expertise and hockey‑operations experience that the board believes will ensure continuity for the team.
Alex Meruelo Jr., the team’s governor, expressed gratitude for Hoffman’s leadership and optimism about the transition, noting that the new interim president’s background positions the Roadrunners for sustained success.
Hoffman will remain with the organization as a special advisor, a role that will allow his insights to continue shaping the franchise’s strategic direction as it looks ahead to the 2026‑27 American Hockey League season and beyond.
