A recent statewide survey conducted by Overton Insights on behalf of the Texas Public Policy Foundation asked 1,167 likely Texas voters to name the college football fan base they find most obnoxious, fielding responses between August 24 and 26.

The poll, which sampled a cross‑section of Texans across age, party affiliation and geography, asked participants to select a single fan base they considered the most obnoxious, ensuring a clear metric for comparison.
The results showed Texas A&M Aggies supporters topping the list with 29.7% of respondents, just ahead of University of Texas Longhorns fans at 27.4%, while Texas Tech supporters ranked third among younger voters at 24.1%.
The partisan breakdown revealed a stark contrast: 31.9% of Republican voters labeled Longhorns fans as the most irritating, compared with 24.1% for Aggies, whereas Democratic respondents favored Aggies at 37% versus 20.9% for Longhorns; independents leaned toward Aggies at 38.2% over Longhorns' 23%.
Age also shaped opinions, as voters aged 18 to 29 selected Texas Tech as the most obnoxious fan base at a rate of 24.1%, indicating a generational divide that cuts across traditional rivalries.
The findings have ignited discussion among fans and social media users, who argue over the fairness of the rankings and the implications for the upcoming college football season, a period that promises heightened rivalry and heightened passions.
