The Miami Hurricanes secured a spot in the ACC baseball tournament semifinals on Thursday, edging Boston College 8-2 after a dramatic comeback that turned a 1-0 deficit into an eight-run lead.
After a quiet first inning that left them trailing, Miami erupted in the second with a four-run burst highlighted by a two-run home run from Fabio Peralta. All-ACC catcher Alex Sosa added his own homer, and starter Lazaro Collera settled the game with five solid innings, allowing just one hit and two walks.
Georgia Tech Awaits
Next up, the Hurricanes will meet top-seeded Georgia Tech, who advanced with a 6-0 victory punctuated by a grand slam from Parker Brosius. The Yellow Jackets also saw Carson Kerce and Vahn Lackey each launch two home runs in their win over Virginia.
Should Miami pull off an upset, they could set up a championship clash with rival Florida State, a team they had struggled against earlier in the week, dropping two of three games in Tallahassee after blowing a five-run lead.
