A packed slate ahead for Rutgers basketball
The Big Ten Conference has released the full schedule for Rutgers’ men’s basketball team for the 2026‑27 season, outlining a demanding conference slate that blends traditional rivalries with new challenges.
Rutgers will meet three of its historic foes twice, hosting Penn State, Maryland and Purdue in home‑and‑home series that promise to swing the momentum back and forth throughout the year.
Among the home‑only opponents are Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin, each of which brings a different style of play and adds depth to the roster’s preparation.
On the road, the Scarlet Knights will travel to face Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon, Ohio State and Washington, while also taking on 14 single‑matchup opponents scattered across the conference.
The schedule also guarantees ten contests against teams that earned NCAA tournament berths last season, including the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines and Final Four participant Illinois.
Beyond conference play, Rutgers is slated to compete in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, where it will join a field that includes Florida, Houston, Kansas, West Virginia, Auburn, Notre Dame and UNLV.
The festival bracket will feature three games for the Scarlet Knights, offering a national stage before the regular season fully kicks in.
